Sergi \u00c1lvarez Riosalido (Sabadell, 1992) is a writer, curator and researcher. He currently lives and works in Barcelona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His work moves between writing, research and curatorial practice, often emerging at the intersection of artistic practice and fields such as psychoanalysis, image studies, literature and gender studies. He is particularly interested in the relationships between language and affect, the ways in which we construct and exceed meaning, and the contradictions that shape our relationship with images and bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication from the Universitat Aut\u00f2noma de Barcelona, with a specialisation in cinema, a Master\u2019s degree in Comparative Studies in Art, Literature and Thought from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, and a postgraduate degree in Contemporary Thought from Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He later completed the Master\u2019s programme in contemporary art curating L\u2019art contemporain et son exposition<\/em> at Universit\u00e9 Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV) as a \u201dla Caixa\u201d Foundation fellow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is the author of No aceptaremos las ataduras. Jonas Mekas y la tradici\u00f3n norteamericana de Thoreau y Whitman<\/em> (Brumaria, 2017) and has published essays, criticism and texts on art and visual culture in journals including El Ciervo<\/em>, A*Desk<\/em>, Exit Express<\/em>, Comparative Cinema<\/em> and Found Footage Magazine<\/em>, as well as contributing to publications and exhibition catalogues. His writing has addressed authors and artists including Harun Farocki, Jonas Mekas, Jean Painlev\u00e9, Jacques Lacan, Jacques Derrida and Nan Goldin, exploring questions of the body, intimacy, desire, memory and the politics of the image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a curator, he has developed exhibitions, public programmes and research projects at institutions and spaces including La Casa Encendida, Matadero Madrid, CCCB, CA2M, HANGAR, Casal Solleric and Palau Robert. His projects include Un amor salvaje que arruina nuestra paz<\/em> (La Casa Encendida, 2019), Hay cartas que detienen un instante m\u00e1s la noche<\/em> (La Casa Encendida, 2020), De tarde en tarde, hay cosas que s\u00f3lo pueden decirse por carta<\/em> (Matadero Madrid and CCCB, 2022), Una casa sense foc \u00e9s com un cos sense sang<\/em> (Can Felipa, 2023), and Swiftly arose and spread around me<\/em> (Hangar, CA2M, 2024\u20132025). He has worked with the Centre Pompidou and Jeu de Paume in Paris and is currently curator and Head of Artistic Programming at Dilalica, as well as a lecturer at BAU, Centre Universitari d\u2019Arts i Disseny, in Barcelona.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
